Drone show at the Baumit Construction Day at the Red Bull Ring

The Hahnenkamm Races in Kitzbühel have been among the most spectacular and prestigious winter sports events in the world for decades. Year after year, the legendary race attracts tens of thousands of visitors, international media, and numerous personalities from the worlds of sports, business, and entertainment. Against the imposing backdrop of the Tyrolean Alps, an atmosphere is created that is unique worldwide.

In January 2026, we were privileged to be part of this extraordinary event and to realize a very special highlight in the sky: the largest drone show in Austria to date.

With a total of 900 synchronously controlled drones, the night sky above Kitzbühel was transformed into a monumental visual spectacle, specially designed for the Hahnenkamm Races. An emotional experience unfolded before more than 40,000 spectators, combining state-of-the-art drone technology with the energy and brilliance of one of the world's most famous ski races.

A spectacular event with worldwide attention

The Hahnenkamm Races are considered the most spectacular ski races in the world. The famous Streif course, like almost no other, embodies speed, precision, and adrenaline. It was therefore a very special occasion for us to be able to accompany this iconic event with a custom-designed drone show.

The show was specially tailored to the dynamics and emotions of the event and formed the visual highlight of the evening. Through the combination of light, movement, and music, a production was created that went far beyond a classic show and impressively reflected the unique atmosphere of the race.

900 drones synchronized to specially composed music

At the heart of the production were 900 precisely synchronized drones that transformed the sky above Kitzbühel into a giant three-dimensional screen. The entire show was perfectly synchronized with specially composed music, seamlessly blending image and sound into a completely immersive and emotional experience.

The exceptionally high number of drones enabled the creation of incredibly detailed visuals, seamless transitions, and large-scale animations. Dynamic movements and emotional scenes, perfectly synchronized with the music, harmonized seamlessly with the composition's climaxes. Light, movement, and sound blended together flawlessly, creating an atmosphere that transcended a traditional show. The show truly came to life against the alpine backdrop of Kitzbühel. The combination of snow-covered mountains, the energy of the legendary Hahnenkamm race, and the precisely choreographed light displays in the sky created a unique spectacle that became one of the most emotional moments of the entire weekend for many spectators.

At the same time, the execution under these conditions presented an exceptional technical challenge. Conducting a drone show in an alpine environment entails significantly more complex requirements than comparable shows in lowland areas. During the show, temperatures plummeted to minus 5 degrees Celsius, and challenging downdrafts, typical of the mountainous region around Kitzbühel, were present. These air currents can change rapidly and, especially with large-scale formations, place high demands on stability and flight precision. To ensure a safe and precise execution, all systems were specifically tailored to the conditions. Weather data and wind patterns were continuously monitored and analyzed, while highly precise flight and stabilization systems continuously compensated for external influences.

Especially with a formation of 900 drones flying simultaneously, this requires an exceptionally stable technical infrastructure as well as the highest precision in the control and monitoring of all systems. Despite the demanding conditions, the entire show was executed safely, in a controlled manner, and with impressive accuracy. The enormous visibility of the show meant that the spectacle was noticed far beyond the actual event area. Numerous spectators captured the moments with their smartphones and immediately shared the images via social media. This created not only an impressive experience on-site but also a huge digital reach that conveyed the special atmosphere of the Hahnenkamm Races worldwide.

Emotional spectacle in the sky

The show's goal was not merely to showcase a technical feat, but above all to evoke emotions. The interplay of music, light, and movement created moments that resonated far beyond the immediate event itself. Especially at large-scale events like the Hahnenkamm Races, special memories are forged through performances that people experience together. The drone show thus became a unifying experience for tens of thousands of spectators on site and, simultaneously, a powerful visual moment for media and digital platforms worldwide.

Drone shows at international sporting events

The production in Kitzbühel impressively demonstrates the potential of modern drone shows for international sporting events. They combine innovation, precision, and storytelling with a visual impact that evokes strong emotions and sustainably enhances events.

Especially at global sporting events, drone shows offer a unique opportunity to combine brands, atmosphere, and emotions while creating a modern, forward-looking experience. The drone show at the 2026 Hahnenkamm Races was far more than a technical spectacle. It was an emotional highlight that combined one of the world's most traditional sporting events with cutting-edge technology.

With 900 drones, specially composed music and a unique backdrop, an experience was created that transformed the sky above Kitzbühel into a stage and remained unforgettable for spectators and organizers alike.
